Students and Families,
We are excited to welcome students to our third week of school this week. During the first two weeks, all of our students learned how to act in alignment with our three core values of Pride (safety), Respect and Responsibility. We will continue to work with our students to meet these expectations as the year progresses. Below, you will find some information for families that is similar to what we will be discussing with students.
If at any time during the school year you have a concern regarding your child, we encourage you to contact the classroom teacher first. If you still need assistance, please contact the school counselor or an administrator immediately to share your concerns.
Thank you,
The Parkside Staff
There is no school for students on Tuesday.
Constitution Day on September 17, 2025, commemorates the 238th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. All of our students will recognize Constitution Day during their Social Studies class on Wednesday.
We will have our first parent advisory group meeting on Wednesday September 24 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the Parkside library. We are looking for feedback about 5th and 8th grade transition activities, understanding district policies and procedures and improving student outcomes around attendance. We hope that you are able to join us and help continue to improve the experience for all of our students.
All teachers reviewed positive behavior expectations with students during the first days of school. A team of teachers at Parkside designed lessons to teach students about expectations for behavior in all areas of our school. This is part of our PBIS model for ensuring that our students are focused on learning and becoming the best versions of themselves while at school. The flyer below highlights the work of our team and contains information about what PBIS looks like at Parkside.
Volleyball season is underway and we are excited to host several games this season. Here is a list of procedures that students must follow in order to attend sporting events.
All student spectators must be Parkside students (once we have student IDs you will need them to enter). Students who do not attend Parkside must be accompanied by a parent for entry (this includes younger and older siblings of Parkside students).
Student spectators will be allowed into the building 5 minutes before the games start. Students must be picked up immediately after the game ends. Students who are not picked up within 15 minutes of a game ending will be restricted from attending future games.
Parkside students, not accompanied by a parent, must sit in the Parkside fan section (bleachers closest to the lobby door).
Students must be in school by 7:45AM and attend the entire school day (unless there is a doctor’s note) to be admitted. Absent students will not be allowed entry into games.
The focus of attending a sporting event is that event and not the lobby or hallway. Students will be sent home if they attempt to wander the building or if they continuously exit the gym. Additionally, students can’t leave the building and then return.
Students exhibiting behavior that does not meet expectations will be removed from the game and restricted from attending future games.
Students may be restricted from attending games for violations of the code of conduct during the school day. Students who owe detention hours will not be admitted.
Classes end at 2:20. Bus students will be dismissed first followed by walkers and riders. Students can't access the basketball court or playground until 2:55PM after Gossler's dismissal. Students picking up siblings at Gossler will be supervised in the Parkside cafeteria until Gossler's dismissal time.
Please refer to this map for visuals of where students can be when waiting after school.
